The Constitution
The Tokenminning Constitution is engineering law for production AI stacks. It moves the discipline from aspirational best practices into CI/CD pipelines, hard-coded API ceilings, and immutable metering ledgers.
This document is structured to read like foundational law for the FinOps era of AI. It outlines non-negotiable architectural primitives. Violations are not style preferences. They are deployment blockers.
The core thesis
You do not achieve token efficiency by asking engineers to write shorter prompts. You achieve it by building infrastructure where token bloat physically cannot deploy, and where every inference call is cryptographically tied to a ledger.
The Constitution replaces intention with enforcement.
Soft guidance produces soft budgets. Hard architecture produces predictable unit economics. The difference between a prototype and a production AI stack is not model quality. It is whether cost is a first-class constraint at every layer of the system.
Preamble: the supremacy of unit economics
We hold these truths to be architecturally self-evident:
Compute is finite. API calls are capital. Every token generation is a withdrawal from a budget that someone (a customer, a company, or a future funding round) will eventually reconcile.
Engineering without unit economic constraints is not engineering. It is prototyping with production traffic.
This Constitution is the supreme law for any production AI stack. Where application code, framework defaults, or provider SDK ergonomics conflict with these Articles, the Articles prevail. No feature ships without a cost attribution path. No agent loop runs without a budget ceiling. No frontier model call escapes justification.
The era of “we’ll optimize costs later” is over. Later is bankruptcy.
